German fest to screen ‘Hendi & Hormoz’

Iran and the Czech Republic joint venture ‘Hendi & Hormoz’ has been scheduled to be screened at the 68th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) in Germany.

Directed by Abbas Amini, ‘Hendi & Hormoz’ is to represent Iran in the Generation section of the German film event.

'Hendi & Hormoz' takes place on Iran’s Hormuz Island in the Persian Gulf, where hematite deposits in the soil turn the ocean waves blood-red. 16-year-old Hormoz is married to Hendi, three years his junior, after he promises that he can work as a miner. But the young man finds closed doors instead of a job, a short synopsis of the movie read.

Hamed Alipour, Zohreh Eslami and Mohammad Banouj are among the stars of the flick.

Founded in 1951, the Berlin International Film Festival is one of the world’s leading film events which is held in Germany and is celebrated annually in February.

The 68th edition of the Berlinale is slated for February 15-25, 2018.
